Welcome to the TrueNeeds help center. Here you will find answers and explanations to many of the most frequently asked questions.

Question: What is Trueneeds.com?

Answer: Trueneeds is the first software review website that specifically focuses on the software needs of developmentally disabled people and there caretakers.  After searching for software for many years for my autistic son I decided to build an easy to use directory featuring such software programs that will hopefully make the search for these great programs easier and also nurture and enrich people’s lives.

Question: Is the software on Trueneeds free?

Answer: Sometimes, you must look at the License: field notated on each software review page.

If the license field says Free then the software program has been provided free of charge from the publisher. If the license field is marked with Trial then the software is a trial version of the full software program. Usually such trials have most of the features enabled and last for a specific length of time. When the trial expires you will need to purchase the software in order to continue using it.

Question: Do you offer support for the software programs listed on Trueneeds?

Answer: We do not offer technical support for the software programs listed on Trueneeds. We do however try to list the support link to the software publishers website which is listed on every software review page under the Support Page field.

Question: Should I worry about spyware and viruses in the software download?

Answer: We do not host the software downloads on Trueneeds. The software downloads are hosted on the software publishers website so we cannot guarantee that the software is free from spyware or viruses. We do however carefully inspect each software program for spyware and viruses before allowing it to be listed on Trueneeds and immediately reject any programs that do have these problems.

We strongly suggest that you scan each software download with your antivirus before installing it. If you do come across a program that has a problem please notify us immediately and we will promptly remove the program but in all likelihood you shouldn’t due to our vigilant screening process.

Question: Why wont my download start when I click the Download Now link?

Answer: Usually this is due to a security precaution in your web browser which disables automatic downloads. Most of the time you just need to just simply click on the security bar that appears when you try to download and choose the option to allow the download.

In cases where your download doesn’t start and you are not seeing the browser security bar this is most likely due to the publisher host site having technical difficulties. Please let us know if you have problems with a particular download and we will look into it asap.
