About Us

One day my parents asked me to setup one of the computers at their house to be usable for my autistic son when he visits. Having almost 15 years of experience with computing and 10 years of experience operating a software review website I have gotten used to these technical requests coming from family members and friends.

After I was done getting everything setup a thought occurred to me. Why not help others with this same problem? And that is exactly what we have set out to do. Offer a website dedicated to researching and reviewing only software programs that would be of benefit to the developmentally disabled and the caregivers that touch there lives every day.

At the same time we want to be able to connect the users of Trueneeds. To enable you to share in your experiences with the software programs with others and what worked and didn’t work out well. In this way we can all help each other with our developmental software needs.

Why the name Trueneeds? We have a clear mission, to help the developmentally disabled with their trueneeds. From offering games that will put a smile on someone’s face to learning programs that will help with development.

Are you a non-profit website? No, we want to be around in a couple years so after careful consideration we decided to accept donations and to monetize the website with advertising to help offset the costs involved. Servers, security and custom programming do not come cheap and in order to offer the website to users free of charge and remain viable this was the only long-term option.

We? Yes I have enlisted some help with this website, my co-pilot and best friend Paul along with my wife Margaret and myself are currently volunteering all of our spare time to Trueneeds. This doesn’t mean we don’t need your help!
